OUR MISSION

The mission of the Be The Ball Foundation is to promote youth fitness through participation in all ball sports and raise awareness about the importance of proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle for young people.


WHO BENEFITS


o Children will benefit by increasing their health and fitness
o Children will benefit by decreasing childhood diabetes and obesity
o Society will benefit by increasing the number of healthy children and,
   in turn, healthy adults. This will lead to a decrease in the public costs
   for insurance and medicare.

   attention generated by the high-profile nature of the Be The Ball
   Foundation’s efforts.

   themselves with an important public trust initiative.

CURRICULUM VITAE


Bob Delaney – President/Director
One of the NBA’s most celebrated referees, Mr. Delaney was awarded the NBA OFFICIALS COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD in 2000 and was presented the National Association of Sports Officials GOLD WHISTLE AWARD in 2003 given to a sports official who is noted for work both on or off the field of play. He also served on the National Basketball Referee Association Executive Board and is Director of The Officiating Academy -IMG Academies , Bradenton Florid and Co-Director of IMG Academies Corporate Programs –PERFORMANCE RULES where he is adapting existing IMG programs for application to sports officials and the corporate world.

Delaney has served on the Board of Directors for Easter Seals Southwest Florida, the Board of Directors of Lakewood Ranch Community Fund, and the Board of Directors of the 13th Avenue Community Center Manatee County ,Florida. He and his wife Billie are also very active with the Jimmy V Cancer Research Foundation, for which Mr. Delaney is Co-Chair of the BLOW THE WHISTLE ON CANCER campaign, organizing all sports officials to donate "game fees" once a sports season to the V Foundation.

Mr. Delaney attended New Jersey City University (B.S. Criminology) and was named to the University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006. He was a New Jersey State Trooper from 1973-1987 during which time he was involved in a long-term undercover investigation that resulted in the arrests and convictions of numerous members of organized crime. His
undercover life is currently in development for production as a feature film by ESPN Original Entertainment and a book is being published.


George Francisco – Director/Officer
Mr. Francisco is a highly regarded writer and director. He has extensive knowledge and understanding of the non-profit world having been key in bringing numerous marketing campaigns and entertainment projects to life for the public sector. His AMERICAN VETERAN AWARDS show was annually broadcast by A&E to critical raves. His clients have included such prominent national organizations such as the Disabled Veterans Charities, Help Hospitalized Veterans, the Yanks Air Museum, NBA Entertainment, the state of California’s 5 A Day Power Play, the White House, and NASA to name a few.

His screenwriting credits include the international hit CHAMPIONS, STRINGER, for A MAN APART producer Vince Newman, BLUE BALLS, for LOIS & CLARK star Dean Cain, and WHISTLEBLOWER for ESPN Original Entertainment. Currently, Mr. Francisco is working on THE LEAGUE, a feature length documentary chronically the history of Ivy League football. He has worked with such noted stars as Tommy Lee Jones, Brian Dennehy, Matthew Fox, Gary Sinise, Catherine Bell, Brian Setzer, Michael Bolton, Randy Travis, Shooter Jennings, and First Lady Laura Bush.

A native of Chicago’s south side, Mr. Francisco received his BA from Columbia University, where he majored in International Relations and was a starting linebacker on their infamous losing football teams of the 1980s. He then went on to receive his JD from Fordham University School of Law and his MFA from the prestigious USC School of Cinema-Television. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Veterans Foundation Inc.


M. Stephen Brown – Director/Officer
M. Stephen Brown is the President/Founder of Be the Ball, Inc.

Be the Ball, Inc. owns the globally recognized registered trademark of “Be the Ball” plus all copyrights of the “Be the Ball” character artwork created by nationally known illustrator Bob Commander.

In addition to running Be the Ball, Inc., Mr. Brown maintains a full-time position in the telecommunication industry. With over twenty years experience directing sales and operations, his most recent project includes authoring a telecommunication sales manual targeting the real estate market.

Prior to entering the telecommunications industry, Mr. Brown was an entrepreneur in the resort and tourism industry where he owned and managed several small businesses including restaurants and ski shops. He attended Eastern Illinois University and the University of Northern Colorado where he pursued a liberal arts degree. Steve, and his wife Jo, along with a menagerie of animals, live in Salt Lake City where he continues to hone his golf game and make an occasional appearance on the tennis court.


Patrick Ritter – Director/Officer
Mr. Ritter has been a successful Management Consultant for 25 years, working with clients in the United States, Asia, and Europe.

Involved in Finance, Operations, Investment, Mergers & Acquisitions, Contract Negotiations, Research & Development of emerging technology, Start-ups, Turnarounds and numerous other aspects of business.

Mr. Ritter is a graduate of Westminster College in Business Administration in 1979. To date, Mr. Ritter has consulted with over 70 companies and over 300 business transactions since 1982.


Arthur Miyazaki – Director/Officer
Mr. Miyazaki brings tremendous financial experience and knowledge to the Be the Ball Foundation as the former Controller of the Sundance Institute. His ten year tenure at this globally recognized non profit organization provides the Be the Ball Foundation strong financial governance.

Arthur continually gives back to the community with his volunteering work. For over twenty he has served with the Salt Lake County Sheriff Search and Rescue division and for the last six years he has voluntarily coached the Juan Diego High School boys and girls tennis team attaining numerous region and state championships.

Mr. Miyazaki is a graduate of Westminster College of Salt Lake City, Utah with degrees in Physical Science, Accounting plus a Masters Degree in Management.

He and his wife Deb divide their time between Salt Lake and Coronado, California.


Liza Cozad – Director/Officer
Ms. Cozad brings significant consulting and networking opportunities as a successful attorney for almost 15 years. Ms. Cozad’s law firm legal experience has brought her exposure to clients of local as well as international acclaim in the entertainment field. Her legal experience both with law firms and as in-house counsel has focused in the area of contracting and licensing, as well as intellectual property in the fields of entertainment, high tech, biotech and insurance.

Ms. Cozad is a graduate of the University of Redlands in Southern California with a B.A. in Philosophy and Psychology, and received her law degree in her home state of Illinois from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago.

She and her husband reside in Marin County, in Northern California, and enjoy time with their two German Shepherds, as well as hiking and camping. Ms. Cozad, a top ten junior player in her state and a college varsity tennis player, still tries to find time to play competitive tennis when possible, in addition to competing in marathons and triathlons, and she will compete in her first Ironman Triathlon in 2007.
